cmjames over on woodnet posted this a few minutes ago. I picked up the 22-44. Jump on this if you can, these never go on sale.

I have had the 22-44 for over a year now and paid twice that. I have the enclosed cabinet but I don't like the stability. If you can do it....do it. It gets as much use as my tablesaw and thats A deal....IMNSHO:D

I bought it. The picture shows the infeed and outfeed table extensions, but i'm pretty sure it doesn't come with them. I'm planning to put it on a cabinet with a melamine top on both sides. Yet another shop project. :)

Where should I be getting sandpaper for this? A number of places have a performax brand sandpaper assortment pack for around $30. It has three grits in the pack. I've heard good things about klingspor also, but their site looks like they don't sell to the public.

Thanks Brian, just ordered the small one...$573.50 shipped. Was going to pick up the 10-20 on sale at Woodcrafters this month but this works out much better.

That is a good deal. As far as the paper goes, I'm not aware of anybody selling it (including Klingspor's store) that has anything other than the Performax boxed stuff and I've never seen anybody selling it at a discount. Not sure what site you were on Brian but Klinspor does sell to the public through this site

Just started my Christmas shopping, Merry Christmas to me.
That is a great deal, the sandpaper is not a problem can get it thru woodworkers supply, or any number of places.

of course i just happened to purchase the performax 16-32 two weeks ago...:( it sure would be nice to have the extra six inches to be able to send an 18" door through in one pass!

You can get the paper online from Jet. Also When WMH tool group bought up the Performax brand part of the sanding company was spun/sold off to a company called Supermax tools. They carry the larger sanders. Anyway they also offer the paper. I have delt with them and they are nice folks. You can find them at supermaxtools.com

Got the 22-44. How do I explain this one to my wife? Actually, I may not have to. She still hasn't noticed the drill press I got a year ago.

I try to get home before she does to get rid of the evidence.

One of these was one my "be nice to get one day" list. Is this really such a good deal that I should jump the gun?

Thanks for the info Brian, I am hoping that I got my order in early enough yesterday to get one. Went to their web site this morning and both the 16-32 and the 22-44 are listed as "This item currently out of stock & unavailable for sale at this time". I am only guessing that someone came in to work this morning and said "Houston we have a problem, BIG TIME".
Well all of us that put in an order can only hope that they honor the orders that were taken.
Have a good weekend.

(i write this sort of software for a living)

It looks to me like they just deleted something from the database. That page has default values on it that are supposed to be replaced with data that comes back from a database query. Nothing comes back from that query now. I wouldn't be too concerned with anything on that page until it changes again.

Someone suggested that maybe Jet is closing these out since they still have the performax name. Maybe they deleted the item in anticipation of adding the Jet version later. About 25 people on woodnet posted that they ordered one also. And since they're unlikely to have that many in stock, they could be shipping straight from the manufacturer.

Anyway, I wouldn't draw any conclusions from the current state of their website.

I just bought a 22-44 jet sander from Rockler 2 weeks ago, but had not set it up since I was out of town for a while. I found this screaming deal Saturday AM as I was preparing to head to a local Tool supply store, Performance Line Tool. They actually had a mini-woodworking show with; WMH Tool Group, Black adn Decker/Dewalt/Delta/Porter-Cable, Bosch, Kreg, Freud (was that Charles McCracken?) and others. The gimmick was small price reductions with no sales tax (6%).
I bought the print out to Rockler to see if they would match (they often do) but they didn't. I then took it to PLT and talked to the local and regional reps. They told that this price was way below cost and that I should buy it since no one would match it. They asked fro the copy of the web page print out and gave me a pen and cap for my troubles.
I waited until later Saturday PM to order the sander, since I had reservations about returning the one I have and losing that deal ~$950, even felt disloyal to Rockler, but I pulled the trigger.
I called customer service at Hechinger this morning and actually talked to someone. My order was not in the system even though I have an order # from an email. I check online like some of the others have and now find that there is no listing for the 649004k performax Jet 22-44 sander with an open stand.
If anyone gets a confirmation, or better yet, a sander, let us know. I'm hanging on to my "bird in the hand" until i get one or know it's on the way.

From another forum, it is still a wait and see game. One person posted, there was some link on that page, for some kind of insurance, in case of screw up, and others have talked to them and say their orders were submited for delivery from Perfomax (now whoever). I almost jumped, but couldn't justify it yet (big expensive toy for very limited current use). I am following this though out of interest.

Looks like they're both out of stock. Good thing too, or I would have been seriously tempted.

I just got the boot. They cancelled my order. No harm done, except for good sense ego.

Good decision, they're canceling the orders now.

I just got an email from Home Decor saying:

While we do our best to post accurate pricing on the website, occasionally an error occurs and a product is mispriced.
As per our posted pricing policy, if an item’s correct price is higher than the stated price, we may cancel the order. Please allow this email to serve as notice of cancellation. If you would like to purchase the product, please visit our website and reorder it at the corrected price.

I've seen a lot of posts on SMC about prices on products being too good to be true. But this is the first time I've heard of a company not honoring those prices.

I find Ms. Davis' title to be very interesting:

Cancellation Specialist?????????????????

Sounds like they have a lot of "PROBLEMS" if they need a "specialist" on their staff.

I have been told by a good source that markup on large power tools is only 7% so when the Jet people saw the price they knew right away that price was no good. Why would you sell something for half price when a store paid much more than that.
I run a retail garden center and customers would come in all the time with sale ads from Builders Square and HQ. They were selling things way below cost. I knew that but I got the old “You are going out of business with your prices” Well how good of a deal are you getting now from B SQ and HQ?? Basic math will tell you selling truckloads of product below cost never makes you a profit no matter how much you sell.

I keep trying to cut the holes out of my shirt, but the holes just keep getting bigger. :)
