I have this idea to spell out a child's name in both sides of a 2"x3" x (??length) board with my CarveWright machine - and make a toy train out of the results.

The letters would be double-spaced so I can cut the board (letters)into individual blocks and round over the edges.
Install four wooden wheels on pegs to each individual block.
Drill the blocks lengthwise and thread them together with a tiny chain.
Run a screw up into the bottom of each block to lock the chain and maintain uniform spacing.
Fabricate a simple engine and caboose using similar wooden wheels.Add a short pull rope and viola, we have a "NAME TRAIN":D.

What do you think about this?
Any ideas to dress up the train? (easy details)

Thanks,

Rob

That sounds like a cool idea! You could also use 3/4" stock and have the machine drill the axle hole, round the edges and cut each out to shape. Make lefts and rights, put a saw kerf along the backs (for the chain channel) then glue the halves together.
