I built this after purchasing a Delta benchtop mortising machine and cut the tenons on the table saw using a home made jig (from PWW) that slides on the fence (I now own a bona-fide tenoning jig).

Very nice Dave. Most of my stuff is mortise and tenon and I haven't had one fail yet. It's a strong joint.

You have to click on the picture and enlarge it to see the finish job. Looks good to me.

Cool.

What is it?

Its a toy bench for my kids. I upholstered the top by stapling some fabric with batting over a 1/4" piece of luan ply.

The wood is all poplar, and the panels are MDF wainscot that comes pre-primed.

I designed it myself. Was an interesting exercise with 3 pages of pencil drawings and head scratching to figure out how to mate all the pieces together. :)

Took me awhile to find the right mechanism to soft close the lid, but eventually I found this, which works great:

(and this is the cheapest place to buy it that I found)
