Was by my plastics supplier today, and saw a piece of what looked like Corian, and asked about it. The said it was polyurethane, and was used to make stamping dies. Nothing sticks to it. Well I've never made a die, but there is info out there how-to, but I thought I would ask if anybody is familiar with lasering polyurethane. I picked up a little 2 dollar (6"x2.5"x.5") chunk to play with, so I don't have room to make too many mistakes.

Thanks

I did a little sample of "cultured tile" that was mostly polyurethane and it turned out quite well. Engraves deep so watch your power setting.

Thanks Brian. Can any body point me to a How-To for embossing dies? I know I've seen them but now I can't find a thing. A search of old posts didn't turn up much.

Thanks

I have the 3 CD Set from member Roy Brewer that I met at ARA in Atlantic City years ago. The 3 CD set is available at ARA.org or coreldrawhelp.com, JHM Marketing Computer Art & CorelDraw Basics.

Roy has a great how to making a embossing die.

If you go to the Epilog technical library and do a "making seals" search you'll find a how to.

Hello George,
look at this picture, I tried to show how to do a die for embossing paper.
On my ULS 30W I use speed 33%, power 100%, 500dpi. Values may different on your laser. You have to engrave to reach about 0,3mm depth. (sorry, i don't now how it is in inches - writing from Europe)

I attached Corel file with the same picture. Use it as a sample.
