My old PC 5", 5 hole ROS broke and I was looking at a new one. Does anyone have experience with the Bosch and know how it differs from the PC in build?

Hello,
The Bosch generally gets the nod here as the best 5" ROS for us mere mortals (the ones that can only drool at the Festools) ;).

I know this only because I bought a DeWalt - and later read how the Bosch beat it hands down.:(

Oh well live and learn, eh?:o

I have a few different ROSs and believe the Bosch 1295 is one of the two best 5" ROS on the market. Fine Wood Working rated the 1295 as best in class of 5" ROS.

Another vote for the Bosch.

I have been looking at the Bosch 1295 on Ebay and at the local Blue Borg. With the rectangular port to the dust collector, is there some sort of adapter available to connect it to a shop vac hose?

If this sander is better than my PC Quicksand I definately want one. My PC does a great job of sanding and is a much better tool than the variable speed Dewalt that I also have.

Here you go - although the exhaust has an oddball size. Bosch makes a 1.25/1.5" adapter to fix that...

That source on Amazon, Allsparetools, is the cheapest with shipping that I have been able to find those. They work very well.

I got both the Bosch Airsweep Vacuum Hose Adapter (1-1/4" & 1-1/2") VAC002 and the BOSCH Vacuum Adapter for Various Sanders Part No. RS006 to hook the sander up to the Oneida hose from my Dust Seputy. The connection that goes on the sander is metric. The inside of the 1-1/4" OD side of the adaptor fits over it tightly. If you are hooking up the sander directly to a ShopVac hose you'll need another adaptor to do that. I couldn't figure out which one would do that. Now that I have the Dust Deputy and an Oneida hose my sander is working great with super dust collection.:D

I picked up a recon 1295VS from CPO Bosch. Looks brand new, works brand new. Extremely smooth pattern gets me to the finish I want quicker than others I have used. Get the vac adapter; with my shop-vac hooked up it is virtually dust free. 8 hole.

The o-ring makes a perfect fit inside my small Ridgid shop vac hose. I bought the Bosch to regular hose adapter and have never used it. I'm not even sure where it is now that I think about it.

Thanks for the information on the adapter. I'll have to get one and try the Bosch sander out.

Is a great sander. More powerful than the 1295 . Had one for years without problems. Cost 129 at bosch cpo
