Beautiful wood Julie and the form you turned really shows it off! Love the color variations, the worm holes and the spalting! Nice work - looking forward to seeing more!

When I first started turning I asked an experienced woodturner what to do about worm holes, and he told me to look for wood with more. Lots of people love them. I like the color of the wood and form.

What happened with the black areas?

I love the form and especially that it has wormholes!

Very cool :D

The black is most likely caused by water. Light colored hardwoods that have been imerrsed forlong periods of time turn charcoal black in time.

Julie, great job! I really like them. Send me some of that scrap wood when you get a chance.;) Where do you all find the great burls or knurly woods like this. Mine are usually so plain looking.

Nice piece, Julie! Just out of curiosity---was the wood punky at all?
