This wood came from a tree in Lenox Mass... Fell down last winter. I had gotten several other pieces of burl from this tree, this was very understated compared with some of the other stuff... Bland colors.
Height 4 7/8 inches
Diameter: 4 7/8 inches
Finish: 600 oil sanded burnished bee's wax finish

I love this! The figure and subtle colors remind me of abalone, especially in the 1st and 3rd pics.

I like the colors, like the shape, doesn't look like it will hold brandy so it must be art. Nice piece!

Ok the truth is......amazing! What a beautiful piece of wood you started with and the shape really allows you to see all the pattern nicely. Very nice, thanks for posting it.:)

Beautiful work George! Nice form, great looking wood and a soft luster to the finish! Interesting piece of wood with all the voids. Congrats on being able to keep all the bark in place! I like it - very nice work!

Thank you everyone!
Last night, I was fiddling with this piece (feels good in my hands) when I held it upside down (I have been told that the sign of "good form" is if a thing looks good inverted as well as right side up).
In looking at it, I think it would make a good/better vase...

Yepper, I agree, it should be a vase. Looks like you will need to foot NE now. Very nice figure and color. Looks really nice!

I agree with Skip. Other than it not holding the brandy, it's a dandy piece of work. And it don't matter which way you hold it, it STILL won't hold water! :D

Really "snifty".
