I have a very old 12" cabinet saw made by Darra James. It is generally in excellent condition, but one of the nuts just stripped out. This is a brass/bronze cylinder 1" diameter about 2.5" long with the threaded hole 90 deg to the axis. The thrread is a .5" x 8tpi acme thread.

Does anyone know of a source for this part? I'm surre I can find a machine shop to make one for me, but at what cost.

Also, If you have any information about the manufacturer, I'd sure appreciate it.

You may want to Google Woodworking at Rex Mill, this will take you to the web site of a gentleman named Johnny Kleso aka Rare Bear. Besides being a wiz at restoring old planes he is also quite an accomplished machinist. If you can give him enough info he will probably make the part for you, and most likely at a reasonable price as compared to a full time machine shop with a large overhead. I of course can't speak for Rare Bear, but if I had this problem he is the first guy I would call.
