Turned a small Maple bowl a couple of days ago – just to make sure I remembered how. Roughed out the blank this past summer and then soaked in DNA for a few hours. Couldn’t believe how light weight the blank was when I unwrapped it! Had to have been real dry!

Bowl is 7 5/8” in diameter x 2 ¾” high. Sanded to 400, a few coats of Antique Oil and then buffed.

Comments / Critiques are always welcome!

Thanks for looking!

Very nice looking bowl, Steve. I really like the form and figure---it makes me hunger for a colorful salad. :)

I love the grain pattern that blank orientation gives. I know how tough they can be to sand so I really appreciate a piece like this with a finish that looks flawless. Great job!

Looks like all of the adjectives have been used, so I'll just say: Beauty!

I really like the form. When looking at the lip treatment in the first pic, I thought at first it extended beyond the outside wall of the bowl. I think I may steal your form idea and add that to see what it looks like!

Very nice, just in time to hold nuts or candy for the Holidays. It might even be good for a quiet bowl of ice cream after things quiet down in the evening!

Yep, looks like you nailed it. From the pics it looks like you kept the color very symmetrical. And the finish looks perfect too.
