After the discussion of the Stanley 140 below I decided to get the LN rabbet block plane. It's on sale at Woodcraft now and even though I have to pay tax, I could hold it in my hand and take it with me. Tried it out this afternoon and its the ticket!

Dennis,
I bought the same one last year to clean up some shoulders and to fit some tennons on a cradle I made. It is definitely one sweet plane! :D Enjoy!

I have one also and bought it for its width. Even though it is listed as a rabbet plane, at 1.75 inches wide, it should be labeled a "tenon" plane.
And yes, it is sweet.
