I wanted the sq edge to set on the corners, but they kept chipping off so ended up a little short.

I guess I should ask which one. If you are talking about the second one it could be. It sure looks like hickory. Hopefully someone will chime in here.

Very nice work Rex! Really like the square bowl - definately a conversation piece! Natural edge looks good but have no idea what kind of wood it is. The spalted bowl is beautiful! Nice form and the detail work doesn't subtract from the grain but draws your eyes up to the rim. Very nice work!

Yep...I'd say that #2 is hickory. Looks just like one that I did last year. Nice work Rex. My favorite is door #3.

Whenever someone puts up multiples, I end up deciding on a favorite. And this time it is the Hickory. Wow I like the grain in that.

Great looking work, Rex. Like Steve, I really like the square bowl---I've a bit of a fondness for the ``unconventional'' looking items.

One of these years I may actually try and turn one of those propellers... :)

I agree Rex, nice work, the ''wings'' are my favorite and really the most fun to turn. Your next one , try turning down to a 1/16th '' on the wings, a little thin CA glue on the corners will help, just a touch, then soak up excess with kleenex and let the tissue stay on, helps see the corners better ....

Thanks guys for all the input. I did write Hickory on the bottom of the second one. I have three more blanks to practice on the sq. edge one. Maybe the next will come out better. Paul thanks for the comment about CA I did not think of that.

Rex, I am a sucker for a good looking spalted bowl, and I like the treatment you did to that piece of hackberry.

Rex.....I hate it when a guy puts up multiple beauties like this! I'm having a tough time making up my mind but I think the hackberry is my favorite! Very well done Sir!
