Sorry, it wasn't me that made the color scheme changes. I wasn't a fan when we were testing the new scheme and it hasn't grown on me :)

I prefer more contrast.

I develop websites as my primary business. The thing about colors viewed through a web browser is that each platform/browser/hardware combination displays them a little different. Especially hard coded hex values like what is used to define text color. The gold text that I see is very bright and almost hard to look at. It also conflicts with the desaturated blue tones used throughout the rest of the site. My opinion is that if you are going to use gold, drop the saturation down a couple notches.
