I contacted Rikon about a week ago about the tires on my little benchtop BS dry rotting. See; http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=68601
After a little debate the Rikon rep agreed to send me new tires at no charge. UPS just dropped them off and when I opened the package Rikon didn’t send just tires but both wheels and bearings to! That sure doesn’t seem like an efficient way to do business.

I'm guessing they buy them from the supplier as an assembly.
Does seem strange though.

Good thing it wasn't your car that had bad tires!

Bruce,

I don't know about Rikon but I know how my company has taken the position over the years. Often, it's cheaper to store the assembly than the individual parts. One part takes the place of several. Fewer parts to inventory, fewer parts to handle, fewer to store and often the cost difference between the asembly and the individual parts is minute. I find it frustrating at times because I can troubleshoot down to a board in a chassis or a component on the board yet I have to order the entire chassis.
