When I go to the trade shows, at places like the Epilog booth, Universal booth, etc., I always see sample engravings done on nicely finished 1/8" cherry or finished 1/8" maple, etc.
I've found all kinds of suppliers for the unfinished versions of these woods, but where does one find these nicely finished boards?
Thanks a million,.

Not more than 20 minutes ago I received my first order from www.studioworkshop.com (http://www.studioworkshop.com). Athough I ordered 1/8" alder they have cherry and maple as well. It looks to be nicely finished.

Mike, nice site you found there, gosh I wish they had places over here in the UK that supplied stuff like that. :(

I just talked to the owner yesterday and he was very accomodating. I usually buy my wood from George Perzel and finish it myself but I have a need for alder which George doesn't have. This fellow says he'll make it to order (thickness) and understood precisely what my requirements were.
He had been recommended to me previously.
