anyone use one these? i'm wondering if it's really that much more effective than traditional featherboards.

Don't know, but the promo materials says, "The unique design of Panel-Loc places downward pressure on your workpiece at just the right place, 2" away from the fence. This prevents tipping that would occur with conventional featherboards."

Makes sense to me. I wonder if the pressure also pulls the stock toward the fence.

I bought one, have not had a chance to use it yet. Looks good, It also looks like it will offer some protection from the blade.

I have a spacer setup for my feather boards that I use for this and also for tall pieces against the fence but the theory is sound.
