Hi folks,

I'm trying to find a source of wood for cabinet making called "Willow Oak". It is from the Beech Family & it's Latin name is "Fagaceae Quercus Phellos". It is found mostly in the South East in an area South of Maryland to East of Texas usually along moist areas like swamps or rivers. The photo I saw showed a piece "Radialy Sawn" with great ray flake figure like rift sawn White Oak but seems to have the color of English Oak. Does anyone have any experience working this wood? Where can you get it at retail level?

All the best,
Tony

We have a huge Willow Oak tree in our yard. It's in the red oak family. Red oak will show medullary rays when quartersaw - like white oak.
