I'm sorry guys but without an actual visual of seeing it being done... what many were talking about... I just didn't get it. (I blame the dyslexia) little stupid monster that likes to come out at the wrong times.

Any way, here is my solution for cut with the chainsaw a somewhat round blank:

How do you plug that drill in?

Jon - the third photo shows your drill resting on top of the blank. The blank is in the position I was talking about. If the two small logs the blank is sitting on were aprox 4" apart from each other - the blank would drop into that gap and be cradled between them - allowing you to cut the corners off without having to drill anything.

I'd take some photos for you but it's really really dark here!

No, Rich, it doesn't plug in. You have to remove the battery and re-charge them.

No, Rich, it doesn't plug in. You have to remove the battery and re-charge them.

A re-charge must come every ten minutes to get refueled or to dispose of used fuel.

John that was my Dad's. I remember being a teen when he told me that it would be one of the tools I would not want to get rid of, no matter what new tools come out when I was older. That was in the 70's. So even he knew that some new fangled tools would come along and make life easier.

Turns out my "Battery" Drills recharger has quit working, I had seen that sitting up on the peg board and thought, glad I've got that thing.

You could just use the bucket of the front loader on your tractor to clamp the half log on top of a crude stand. Saw one or two corners off, raise bucket, rotate log, clamp with bucket, saw off another corner or two. Motor carefully to avoid getting saw marks on the loader bucket. The latter is also useful in raising heavy half logs from ground level to the elevation of aforementioned crude stand. During inclement weather this procedure can actually be performed indoors if your building has sufficient ventilation to dilute the diesel and chain saw exhaust fumes to acceptable levels.

Jon, that's one of the cleverest things I've seen in a while. I'll be stealing that idea!

Looks good to me Jon. Just take the corners off will make it easier to turn.
