Hi all, I am not a frequent poster but am lurking every night. My question is I have ordered a 3520B and am intrested in what type of 220 outlet it needs to be happy!! Also does it come wired with a cord and plug? How long? Curently using a 1442 Jet. Thanks for any help!! George

The 3520 comes with a 6" cord, but no plug. You will need to purchase a plug compatible with your 220 outlet. Mine is wired to a 220, 20 amp plug and receptacle.

Paul,
Was it maybe a 6 foot cord? A 15 amp circuit with #12 wire would do if you don't have a long distance to cover. Don't recall the motor size of the 3520, but a 2 hp motor draws about 6-1/4 amps at full load plus a little extra in losses.

For my 3520b I made a 10 foot extension cord out of #10 wire, at the time I got it they were out of the flexible #10 so I used the regular Romex type. Better of with the flexible if you can get it. The manual for the powermatic has an area about extension cords.

I stand corrected. This is what happens when you type without your glasses! I did mean a 6 Foot cord, not a 6 inch cord! The motor placard states a draw of 6.2 amps. Good luck with the new lathe.

You should be able to use an L6-30P, correct? I know it is rated for 30A but having a 30A plug on a 15A circuit SHOULDN'T be a problem I would think.

Or get whatever the equiv is in 15A. The locking plugs and receptacles are awesome to work with and typically easy to connect.

Hi George,
I like the twist lock too, but the current rating needs to match the breaker. 15 amps is good for the 3520b ( congratulations ).
If you don't know what to do, please be safe and hire someone who does.
Enjoy your new lathe.
