You know those parents who kept pulling out pictures from their wallet or purses and showing pictures of their kids. I think I've become the neo-version of that. Here is Josh 11yrs. taking over my lathe. I'm going to have to put a schedule up or something.

And here is the finished working product. A Walnut Top.

Nah...don't bother Jon. Just get out the ol' wallet and get yourself your own lathe.....That one belongs to someone else now. ;) :)
Cool Top!!!:)

As the father of another 11 year old aspiring turner, Let me tell you - You don't need a schedule. Whenever you want to turn, he'll want to turn.
John's right - pass that lathe down and treat yourself!
(Thing I'll listen my own advice!)
Nice top - something I still haven't tried.

Most likely, you will get your lathe back when he starts dating. Or at least you can have your time on the lathe.

I commend you for training your son in woodturning. Nice job on the top, he did.
Vicmarc VL100's are on sale at Craft Supplies USA for $251... that's about a 30% savings. I have one, and can vouch that it's awesome... even if you do have to furnish the motor. :)
