Having owned a Craftsman side handled router for many years, I am a believer in the big side grips. I also like the power switch being included in the handle where your index finger can grip it.

Now that the Craftsman is about to use up it's $39 purchase price, I've been on the hunt for a router with similar ergonomics. A lot of people really like the "D" handle machines (Festool and others), but that seems so different to me.

Last night I was looking through the new Freud catalog and saw this puppy. It is a FT3000VCE 3-1/4 hp plunge router. Variable speed, soft start, and most of all.....the handles and switch where I like em.

I'm so glad to find these features. Amazon has one headed my way !!!!
I'll keep you.............posted.

I like the larger handles on the Freud a bit better. To be honest about it, I really have no idea until the new router arrives. Otherwise I like the looks of the Dewalt too.

For some reason, I like a tool that "looks" comfortable and has clean, simple lines. For example, Hitachi also makes some really good tools but what is up with that green and black gargoyle look? Reminds me of something off of the sci fi TV show Babylon 5 !!!

Those are nice looking routers, I have been thinking about getting the one that is on sale now for $129 at Woodcraft, 3 1/4 hp for that money is hard to pass up.

Rob, (FYI)

I received an email from www.toolseeker.com that Peachtree has the Freud Router on sale with free shipping. I found them through amazon.com

Peachtree Woodworking (http://server1.streamsend.com/streamsend/clicktracker.php?cd=5010&ld=19&md=16&ud=966f94465f51574fcdfc505b156d7ffc&url=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000WZZKJE/%3Ftag=toolseeker) has the Freud FT2000E 3 1/4 plunge router for $129 with free delivery.

There are also a few other online companies that have them an sale also.:D

WoodCraft has them for $129, but the picture is different from the one posted above. Evidently, from their online ad, the routers should be in their stores.

I think we are talking about two different routers.
Freud is replacing the 2000 with the 3000 (?)
Perhaps that is why we are seeing deals on the 2000.
