Welcome Ralph,

If you have spent any time at all here you will have found that it is FULL of incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and very sharing people. I'm sure you'll enjoy the time you spend online here.

I only joined a few weeks ago and absolutely love it here. When I post questions I get many suggestions and usually a good dose of humor along with it. And they are very uncritical of people's work, realizing that for most of us this is a hobby and that we can all gain a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment from building something even if it doesn't rival that of a master woodworker.

So as Chris asked, what books or articles have you written? I enjoy reading about woodworking almost as much as the woodworking itself.

Ralph,
Welcome! You will find lots of nice people around here and many ways to enjoy the interacting.
I also am a writer though I have defected from over a decade in the big-time stock car racing coummunity to focus on my long-time love of woodworking. Take a look at my site and I think you will recognize a writer enjoying the subject matter!
Have fun!

Welcome Ralph,
I lived near Ipswitch for 5 years while stationed at RAF Bentwaters/Woodbridge around the time of the Rendlesham Incident (that's another story). Quite a lovely place. Wish I was into woodworking back then. This is a great place to share and learn. Glad to have you join us.

Hi Guys,

David Blanggar suggested that I showed you a some pictures of the little shed we built for a client of ours. We started this project a couple of years ago and finished it off last summer. the building stands on a 25ft x35 ft deck that is set at 22º to the boundary. The garden slopes down towards the house and to one side. this is about 120ft from the back of the house and the only access is up a very narrow 2ft 6inch wide sideway. All the material were hand-balled in.

This is the front of the summerhouse

This view looks from the rear at the green house, and yes that's a slate (well, mock slate) roof.

We don't take on projects like this any more. The writing has become our main business these days.

Unfortunately, I don’t think you will see much of my work in the US as most of it is for UK magazines. However American Router in issue N0 2 have just published a toy box article I wrote.

There are a couple of books on the way, which you may see in the states, for later in the year.

I'll dig out some more, and post some of the furniture pictures, if you would like to see some.

Toys For Boys? Did all the photography also? Nicely done...basic step by step wide box joint construction. Soft-jaw clamps caught my eye.

I look forward to seeing more.
