View Full Version : Which size profile for locking drawer bit?

Hi,
Newbie here, thinking about getting my first locking drawer bit, preferably a Whiteside, using 1/2" sides and 3/4" front. There are two 1/2" shank models and both have different size "cutting profiles". They are 5/16" and 9/16". Is there any chance of getting the larger one, and by adjusting the depth, being able to use it on the smaller stock? Or am I restricted by the profile in buying both to get a range of stock sizes?
Thanks,

Joe

Not sure about the Whiteside bits since I've never tried them. I have both a 3/4" and 1/2" drawer lock bit. I was lazy at first and just made the drawers 3/4" which the 3/4" bit worked great for. Now that I resaw more, I like the 1/2" bit better.
