Has anyone used a prefinished self-adhesive (peel and stick) wood edge band from Cedan? There was a thread (http://sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=65628) back in Sept about edge banding (or is edgebanding?) prefinished ply, and several people extolled the virtues of prefinished preglued edgebanding that you don't iron on, you just peel and stick on. FastCap makes this variety, and it come in both a PVC version that looks like wood, and a real wood prefinished product that is pricier. But I came across something similar from Cedan, a Canadian company, and it is much less expensive (around 1/3 to 1/4th of the price of the FastCap stuff). I need 250-300 ft, so it amounts to over a $100 difference. I was just wondering if anyone had used it and what there thoughts were.

Have not used it, but I need to get some too. Don't let this thread die 'cause I'm interested too.

rob, do you have a web link on that product? the only source i could find is specialtysupplies.com and i believe that the edgebanding that they sell is the HEAT-activated brand.

i hate the iron-on stuff and will gladly pay more just to avoid the nuisance not to mention its fragility compared to PVC.

Frank,
That's the link I found too, but I initially found it on Richelieu's site here (http://www.richelieu.com/produit/index.php?id=1003763&f=1&c_5127=1021463&c_5124=1021460&c_5121=1021458&o=5127_5124_5121)-- Joe Unni uses them a lot for supplies. But they don't list prices unless you have an account. I agree, it's not clear whether this is peel and stick, but I looked at Cedan's website and they say they carry edgebanding with pressure sensitive adhesive (but they also carry iron on). Go to their main site (http://www.cedan.com/anglais.html), and on the bottom of the page click on edgebanding. I guess I'll have to call them.

I've used the iron on edge banding with good success but never tried the peel and stick.

Jay, I think you're talking about Fastcap's pvc tape. I'm talking about the real wood pre-finished tape. The one from FastCap is a lot more expensive than their pvc tape (closer to $150 per 250 ft roll).
