Hi,

Anyone on the group near Kitchener, Ontario? My wife is taking a chip carving class at Chipping Away in Kitchener this weekend, and I'm chauffering :)

I was wondering if there are any woodworking stores, or the like in the area that I might spend some time at.

I know Oneway is only about 40 km from there, but alas, I checked and they're not open for business on Saturdays :( I'll just have to drive by to say I was there

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Danny

Art Mulder is in London which I don't think is too far. There is a Lee Valley store in London as well. I'm sure there's more over towards Toronto too.

You can check out an lumber and exotic wood company.

Search A & M Wood and you should find them. They are only open until lunch on Saturday. Fun place to visit.

Hello,

Chipping Away also sells turning tools and pen making supplies, so there m ight be a chance for you there. I would recomend taking the class with your wife. All you need is one knife, and youre ready for some serious Kerbschnitzen.

Have fun,

Art Mulder is in London which I don't think is too far. There is a Lee Valley store in London as well. I'm sure there's more over towards Toronto too.

But Art Mulder doesn't do turning. Yet. (His wife hopes he doesn't get a lathe anytime soon. ) He does write about himself in the third person, though.

London is about 60-90 minutes drive from Kitchener, depending on which end of town you're going to/from. Federated Tool (http://www.federatedtool.com/) is very close by the London Lee Valley store as well, and if you're lucky you'll be able to say hello to forum member Dave Eisen who works there. Limited Saturday hours, though.

You'd probably be better off posting this question on the www.canadianwoodworking.com forum. Bunch of turners on that forum.

Hendrik Varju (http://www.passionforwood.com/) is based in Kitchener-Waterloo. He teaches WW'ing one-on-one, gives seminars, and so on. So is Konrad Sauer (http://www.sauerandsteiner.com/), just in case you want to buy some exquisite planes.
