Pretty broad question here, but I would greatly appreciate any and all responses.
First, has anyone built Norm's Regency Headboard, as pictured below?

Secondly, I am thinking of simply tapering square posts all the way up, rather than transitioning to turned posts.

Thirdly, could I simply scale this image down in sketchup, square off the top, and make a footboard to match?

Thanks as always. I appreciate everyone's feedback.

I haven't made that headboard, but I have made a different one. You should be able to make the changes that you want.

Check this website for instructions on making a Sketchup drawing from a photo.

you are considering can be accomplished, the question is, should you? Sounds like you are removing many of the details that make the project unique and desirable. Don't give up too quick.

Best of luck

Of course, you can. The dimensions of a particular bed size are relatively standard...measure any bed that uses the mattress size you intend to accommodate and go from there. In most cases, you really don't need extremely detailed plans to build furniture if you think things through and take exact measurements off the project as it proceeds.

Thank you each for the feedback.

I may reconsider the turned posts. That would certainly be the most challenging part of the project.

Ralph, I appreciate the link to the sketchup tutorial. I may do it for fun, but will also go ahead and buy the plans. I dont mind giving Norm & Co the money he is due.

Thanks again.
