I'm new to wood working and have been collecting tools for a number of years.

I have enough power tools to equip a small shop and finally had that built this past spring/summer.

I digress.
About 3 years ago I got the antique tool bug. Haven't bought anything this pass year or so due to financial concerns, but in my short heyday I purchased over 200 planes.

I also incuded some rulers, marking gages, and spoke shaves.

Most of the planes are Stanley, but other brands including Miller Falls. My memory fails me and I can't remember some of the other manufacturers.

Just to mention some items I have.
1. Stanley 146,147,148 Match planes
2. #2's including the 1/2" longer one
3. #45, 46, 48, 49
4. Small collection of wood planes.

I still want a #55, but that may have to wait awhile.

Thanks for listening

I'll see if my daughter camera's is available. She's leaving tomorrow morning for a dance competition and will probably take it with her.

Since I work nights, you can tell by the time of this post I'm at work and she may be gone before I get home.

Anyway, I've been looking for an excuse to get my own anyway.

Give me a few days.

Collecting or using?

Collecting for the most part, but my philosophy is a tool is to be used. When I finish building my garden shed, the next project is to do the inside of my shop I had built this last spring/summer.

When that's ready, now I get to start build the cabinets, workbench, sharpening station, etc I'll need.

There's enough there to really get me into using my tools.

A Little bit a day

Sorry for the delay but since Friday night I've been in the Emergency Room twice and was admitted Sunday evening.

Discharged this afternoon and decided to purchase my own digital camera. So as promised here are a few shots of my collection

Welcome to the Creek. Nice start you've got there!;) :D Have you had a chance to use any of the match planes? I know the #48 and #49 work very well, but I've no experience with the others.

Welcome! I have a #148 in about the same shape as your #146. Paid $35 for it at an antique festival a few years back. Great plane!

Actually I tested the #48 when it arrived to see how it would work.

I haven't actually used them since I had no place to work.

My garden shed will have barn style doors, and one of these is perfect for putting the tongue and groove on the boards.

The blades need to be sharpened and the thickness of the boards will determine which one I'll use.

It will be awhile as I'm under doctor's ordered to do nothing strenuous, the shed construction is delayed.

But, I can work in laying out and installing the light fixtures in my wood shop. Can't work what I can't see.
