Well, here it is. A few odd and end things to do. But for the most part it is finished. Whew!

Nice work Jon. What is the top made of? Formica? ....Ron

Nice looking bench, Jon. I have my Rikon on something similr, except for 2 things:
1. I used a solid core door for the top.
2. I built the bottom shelf by making a box with 2x6's. It is filled with a couple hundred pounds of sand to keep me from moving it accidently.

Oh, and 3. I have already cluttered mine up.

Looks like that one will treat you well.

Jon well done. That is a nice looking bench and looks stout. Should serve you well.

Ron, The top is from an old formica top. A friend in the construction business gave it to me a few years ago. I actually have 3/4" Plywood underneath the formica top to give it some sturdiness. I seem to do a lot of over kill when building work benches.

I think you need a bigger lathe to fill up that table. In all seriousness the bench looks nice and sturdy.

I think you need some chips to fill up that table. Looks too clean. Creeping me out. Don't know that you would need a couple hundred pounds to hold down a mini. I never even bolted mine to the table and never had a problem.

Did you have an 11 and 14 year old going at it? Thought I'd just be safe for their sake. (and mind if they got hurt mom would beat me to death.)

You're right. Better safe than sorry. Nice bench.

The sand I put in was not so much to hold the lathe, but to keep me from pushing the table aroud when leaningagainst it.
