um Wally, ,,,,,, I don't think that is turned yet-so it really isn't your first "turning" , I think it's your first attempt with something this large, if it is turned - you either need new glasses or your gouge definitely needs some sharpening-:D
Cant wait to see what becomes of that! You have to take some pics for us with that blank turning- if you can! thanks
Nice Wally

I used to be your neighbor from Fridley 30 feet from the New Brighton border. We never saw a poplar like this up there. This is Catahua and might have some nice grain to it. We dont have time to play like this every day but will post photos when and if it gets turned.

Hey Wally and Jim,

You Southerners sure do things different down there. That's one serious big hunk of wood. Looking forward to seeing what you end up doing with it. By the way, how are you going to boil that monster-in a volcano?

It will turn up to 92" inboard, 100" outboard. The original brochure says that if you dig a trench you can go as big as you dare!!

I see a lot of toothpicks in there! Hey Andy, think they can borrow your trash can? They might have a few shavings to pick up after.

Wally if that thing comes off the lathe at 500 rpm it would probably end up near my home.
