Here's a new one

Hi Y'all, here's a new one. Took the pic off my monitor screen from Eyetide Site. The engraving is on basswood. sealed with clear lacquer, then a light coat of Walnut shading lacquer. The piece is 6.75 X 5.25 X 3/8" thick. Any opinions??

I like the contrast you are getting on this piece. How did you apply the "shading Lacquer"? Did you apply it just to the etched areas?
I have tried Basswood before with little luck because it usually engraved too lightly, Even when etched deep and slow. Good results I like it,

Nice job Ray, I love the look on basswood. I haven't tried any, but I assume it would look like maple engraved.

Sorry, I didn't realize the picture is so fuzzy. I wanted to emphasize the hair detail above the eyes and forehead. I also failed to mention that the shading lacquer was applied before lasering (rattle can). I have a lot of basswood, and the only way I've been able to get any contrast is to add color. Same with maple.
