I'm looking at DC units and am wondering if anyone here has experience with this one (http://www.grizzly.com/products/G0583)?

Thanks.

I have seen one of those in action at a cabinete shop, I wasnt too impressed. I bought a 2hp Harbor freight DC on sale a couple years ago for $179 and it has much more power. It has two bags instead of the upper filter but they sell a conversion that I will be getting soon. I have it hooked to five machines and use it a lot. It has worked great and is very well built.
I see the HF model on sale a few times a year.

Take a look at the conversion kit offered by Wynn Environmental (http://www.wynnenv.com/35A_series_cartridge_kit.htm), which was recommended in another thread here on Sawmill Creek. I just got the HF DC and the conversion kit about a week ago. Looks good, although I haven't had a chance to do much with it yet.

I have the G1029 & the Grizzly pleated filter system. When I went shopping for a DC I looked at the 1 HP & the LOML said I think you should get the G1029 & remote switch. Well heck who am I to argue so I did & am real glad I did. I would never get a DC smaller than 2 HP. You want to be able to run 6" duct if at all possible so you can move 800 CFM or more to suck the fine dust not just the chips its the fine dust the gets all over everything & in your lungs. Sometime in the future I plane on getting or building a cyclone to take the place of my G1029. Why because a cyclone separates the particulate even the very fine particulate before it can get to the filter.

Check this site out. Just be prepared for overload because it is top heavy with his own health problems & other problems. But it does help you understand why he went to the the effort to design these cyclones. It also shows the real heart that is behind it all considering he made this site & keeps it up which takes considerable effort & cost. I have given you the page where he describes the building of a cyclone & proper dimensions to get it to work great for a hobby shop.

As an experiment I built a 1/2 scale version of Bills cyclone and it was very easy to build, all the plans and measurements were right on even when scaled down. I have all the materials to build a full scale version next. Aaron
