Birch, birch, birch

I found this print of a classic era hunting and fishing magazine cover and wanted the frame to fit the print. I picked up a birch board with some nice pattern in the grain and put it together with 1/4" dowels. The birch bark mat which I peeled from a fallen tree accents the colors in the fish. The two tricks were to completely dry the bark and use a sharp razor knife to cut the mat.

Cool--is the mat some kind of veneer or carboard printed to look like bark? I'm guessing the latter.

This is another one of those items you could probably sell at a craft show for many, many times what you have in it if you were so inclined.
