Its been a while since I've bought any woodworking books and I was going to buy one this weekend for an upcoming trip but both the Barnes and Noble and the Borders by me have cut back their woodworking book selection to two shelves of starter books and scrollsaw pattern books so I didn't find anything. Can anyone recommend any good new releases I could order from Amazon? Any new books that aren't worth it?

Hi Matt - I really enjoyed Tom Hintz's new book. Even though it's primarily intended for newbies, this 6th year rookie still found it to be an interesting read. It's also pretty neat to get a book from a guy who's been posting regularly on the forums since long before the book came to light.

The New Woodworker Handbook: The Basics for Spending Wisely, Working Safely, and Having Fun in Your Shop (http://www.amazon.com/New-Woodworker-Handbook-Spending-Working/dp/1565232976/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/105-4772182-2624449?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1194240404&sr=8-1)

Not a woodworking book, but one potentially useful for woodworking, I can recommend Google Sketchup for Dummies., by Aidan Chopra. It makes Google Sketchup so simple I wonder why I needed a book to understand it. Not so cutesy as some other Dummies books, fortunately.

Bill Hylton's new edition of "Woodworking with the Router" is an exceptional book.It covers every topic one could think of.

Andy Rae's furniture and cabinet construction is one awsome book. It showed the way on every part of a fire place mantle and wall cabinet construction project from a very rough sketch. I got mine at Amazon.
