Not one prone to sinful pride, I must announce that I was able to buy about 750 bf of straight 6/4 wide oak, air dried in 12 ' lengths, average width 8-10"

But the guy made me pay $300 for it.

Jeepers, guys don't even trust each other these days. Got one of the piles in the pic on my website here: http://www.lincolnjefferys.com/woods.shtml

Since the Wood Nazis here demand pictures, I'll try to post one. What we got this time was 1200 bft of mostly oak with a tad of maple, 6/4 and thinner. The guy had cut it and dried it in a radiant heated shop for about 3 years and it's at 8% humidity. No knots, no wild edges. There are about 2 pieces that were kinda curvy. Geez, this time I had to pay $1/bft. Again, The Wife had to help move it because she found it. That'll teach her.

I must be getting overly generous in my old age.

Hmm, i've got to spend more time browsing the classifieds :(

Making the breakfast table out of cherry at 6$ a bf was painful, i need a nice large stock of oak to use!

You'd be surprised at what you can find if you dig around a bit. There are lots of folks who have wood stashed here and there. Don't be afraid to look under a rock or two as you will never know what you might find. Also: Mike Morgan, here on this forum is a great guy and has some pretty neat wood to offer. (I've got some coming probably next week from him).

Now about the sawdust...
