View Full Version : Problem with Delta Bandsaw Tires

Last year, I purchased a new Delta 18" bandsaw for an employee. Just the other day he was resawing with a 1.25" blade. (I think the blade has 3tpi). Rubber particles started to appear on the upper guide assembly. It seems that the saw was eating the upper tire.

Upon closer inspection with the cover open and the saw running:eek: , the upper tire was developing slack and sort of pushing a wave just before blade contact. The lower tire was not showing any sign of this problem. We changed the BS speed to the lowest setting and that appeared to help some --- but also made the saw feel really draggy and slow cutting.

Is anyone familiar with the Delta 18" saw? Is it heavy enough to run a 1.25" blade? What can we do to improve the situation? Is there an aftermarket tire that will fit this saw and hold grip on the wheel better than the OEM?

Thanks,
Rob

You can glue the tire onto the wheel using automotive weatherstrip adhesive (affectionately known as yellow snot in the industry).
