Just ran across this tool this morning while watching TV, you know one of those infommercials that I usually hate. Well this one is from the folks that make the drill doctor right here in Ashland OR.:)
If you hate to sharpen (I don't but am always looking for a better method) this may be for you. I have used something similar years ago with the slotted wheel so you could actually see what you are sharping ( for some reason I still have a slotted wheel for it) and I thought then it was a great idea. Well this system does this and more. Take a look.

I have heard a few folks who like this but there is a major limitation on width of around 2".

Sorry never heard of it. It does look like it will work good.

That's for the adjustable bevel that sits below the disk. You can sharpen larger blades on the tool rest on the top of the disk.:o

Good work Pete those were very helpful. It seems that those people that have the machine like it and I can see that if sharpening has been your weak suit that this machine is narvana. I use Shaptons and freehand sharpen and enjoy doing it but am still thinking about getting one just to change bevels with the course grit and finish with my stones. To my thinking freehand sharpening is like hand cutting tenons or hand planing. The reward is just knowing you can do something entirely by hand.
