View Full Version : Microplane Drums vs Router Table for Duplicating Patterns

Just picked up a Microplane drum with the bearing follower accessory and tonight I tested its ability to duplicate a pattern with some curly maple. Compared to my router with a pattern bit, it cut at least as fast, but with absolutely no tearout, much less noise, and seemingly less risk of accident. So here are my questions for those of you who have Microplane drums with the bearing accessory:

I assume you also have used a router table with a flush trim bit and/or pattern bit. Do you ever use a router table instead of the Microplane for duplicating patterns? Why? Thanks in advance.
