For those of you familiar with Sam's inset drawer technique (rails and stiles are rounded over)
What's the best way to do this? I am thinking a router used with a roundover bit and then go back after it with a chisel in the corners???
any thoughts?
anyone DONE this?

Another way(and maybe this what you're already talking about) is to make a larger router base so that it can sit square on the rails/stiles and rout it from the front(preferably laying down) after assembly. It seems that this would save you some chisel time and you could just clean up the corners with sandpaper.

Something like this:

I had thought about a large based router, but I have seen a few other maloof pieces where the corners are more 'crisp'

This is not one of his, but I think it st similar in style

Gotcha - looks like some hand work is unavoidable. I'm no more help..

Wild-assed guess -- wouldn't a spokeshave be the best tool for that job?

I found a reference from a video that suggests sam uses rasps and files after completion.
I can't believe there's not a better way ? :-*

Here's a better closeup of the joint
