I'm in the middle of refurbishing a DJ-20 (2 hp?, 220, single phase) and was hoping I could get some names of power switches that you might recommend (type and manufacturer). The machine I'm working on is almost 30 years old and all of the electrical is in need of replacement. I have at least 3 major electric companies in my area to provide me with a product.

Thank you for your recommendations in advance.

Have a great day.

Juan,

I got a lot of useful information from this thread from the Sawmillcreek archive:

If you are familiar with electrical wiring, I think the cheapest route is to order the components from Factorymation and build your own. I did this and got an enclosure from Lowes. I contacted Matt Meiser by sending a personal message and he sent me back great advice.

I rehabilitated an old grizzly 8" jointer and had to replace the switch. I posted a request on the sale/swap sections of both this forum and Woodnet and someone actually sent me an old switch that worked great.

Good luck
Gil

Juan, if you are thinking about buying a magnetic switch from a local supplier, you are probably going to be in for a pretty big shock when you hear the price. Grizzly (http://www.grizzly.com/products/g4572) or Factorymation (http://www.factorymation.com/s.nl/sc.2/category.14559/.f) would probably be a better bet.
