Yep, they put a laser on a saw.

The teeth, and the general shape of the saw, both look remarkably like my sheetrock saw (aka "frog stabber"). This must be a new extreme sport - precision sheetrock cutting.

My Bosch 12" slider has one. The laser runs on camera batteries and replaces the outer washer that holds the sawblade. Centrifugal force activates it and it "scribes" the line the blade will cut when it's lowered and slid into the workpiece.

Saves gobs of time and movement mating the blade with the pencil line. When the board that has to be fudged around is a 100lb, 2X12X20' joist, that's a big deal.

I save the hand saws for the bigger jobs. ;)
