loose-tennon joint question

I am building a toy chest and I am going to be using loose tenons to join the rails and stiles. My question on the mortises how wide and deep should they be when the rails and stiles are 4" wide. I was thinking the tenon 2 1/2"wide and 1" deep will this be strong enough or should I make them deeper.
