The kid appears to be freehanding with the tool above the horizontal plane of the piece and angled up! Could get a quick lesson in kickback (unless it rotates AWAY from him?)

That thing is awesome! Kind of reminds me of a grown up version of the Formula SAE cars every engineering school builds (or at least used to?) My sophomore year at Michigan State I got to drive one in the stadium parking lot. What a blast!

You are taking it for granted the motor on that rascal has enough power to cause a kick back! At the price of the "tool" ?????????????????;)

My first reaction was the same. More likely that the "lathe" would go flying since it looks pretty light weight.
