We have done a couple of cabinet reface jobs.
In the past, to cover the old face frames, we resawed and made our own veneer. We would resaw, plane and sand to 1/8". It looks nice but the labor to do this is a lot.

Those of you that have seen or used stick on wood veneer, where did you buy it? How did it finish with stain and poly? We may have another job coming up and I want to see if the stick on veneer is a viable option for us.

Thanks

I did my own house about 12 years ago. Made new doors and figured I would try the edge banding on the old formica. Roughed the old formica up a bit with course sandpaper and applied the 3/4 and 2 inch unfinished oak. Used natural stain and poly. Still good all these years later.

is a fine option for refacing cabinets. A good source for the veneer is www.ouotwatercatalogs.com. Their pricing is ½ of what rockler charges and you can order up to 4' x 8' sheets if you like.

I just received the catalog the other day and could not believe the prices and selection. I will be keeping that one on the bookshelf.

but they have really good pricing on the full extension slides with 1" overtravel. Just under $7 per pair in the 22" length.
