I see that Bessey has a parallel clamp extender. Has anyone tried this on the Jet parallel clamp? Or have you made your own extension for the Jet. I have 4-24", 4-40" and 2-60" Jet parallels. I would like the ability to make them longer if needed. Seems pretty simple. What do you think?

Oh... and yes the head is reversible on the Jet.

OK...I was playing around with the Jet parallels and I figured it out. If you look at the pictures of the Bessey with the connector, you will see that the Bessey head is installed upside down on the bar and the foot is hanging over a table edge. You can do the same with the Jet, and if you set the Jet into the Jet framing blocks,

it raises the clamp up enough from your bench that all you need is a simple connector between the 2 bars of the 2 clamps. Now I wonder if the Bessey connector will work with the Jet parallels.

Update... Today I went to Hartville Tool and bought 4 Bessey K-Body clamp extenders http://www.hartvilletool.com/product/12497 After looking at the Jet parallel clamp and the Bessey extender, it works with one small modification to the Jet clamp. You have to enlarge the hole in the rail of the Jet clamp to 15/32". After that its all good. Here are pics of 2-24" Jet parallels connected with the Bessey K-Body Extender.

As an added bonus, if you flip the bar that holds the clamping head upside down, as shown in the Woodcraft picture, this allows the adjustment handle to slide over the foot, resulting in more capacity. 2-24" parallels will allow you to clamp 55". 2-40" clamps in this configuration will allow 87"

I really appreciate these posts. I wasn't even aware of the extenders. I just ordered a couple from Woodcraft today. They'll be real handy in gluing my the murphy bed I'm working on. Many thanks!!!
