I have a logo that was done in Illustrator by a customer and then saved down to V10 eps file. I can't seem to import it.

Can anyone give me a hand an perhaps open this and save it into a format that I can get into X3 easily?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. It's a 3MP file, so too large to post here. I'd have to email it.

I've just emailed it to you Frank. Thanks to both of you for offering to help.

What are you importing as?

Tried importing it as "All Formats" as well as "EPS" (which it is). Both give me an error trying to open file.

If you haven't tried it, try PS PRN EPS Postscript Interpreted.

Yup, tried that. I get a grey box with the filename and Adobe Illustrator V13 in the box.

I had a problem with importing some Adobe files to X3 until I installed X3's two service packs and the hotfix. Shot in the dark, but something you might try.

Scott,

If you can't get the file I can help we have illustrator CS2 here as well as all versions of Corel.

That may be the same bug I had last week, had to open it in Corel 12.

Yup, tried that. I get a grey box with the filename and Adobe Illustrator V13 in the box.

When you get the gray box, export it as eps or ai from corel, then reopen THAT eps file. A little trick I picked up when I wanted to edit PS fills.

I have done it and returned it to you by email Steve

Thanks Frank, got it and looks like you were correct, it was saved incorrectly for that type, so it looks like I'll be going back to the person who made it and see if they can produce it in a pdf file straight out of their software.

Thanks for all who have tried to help.

p.s. George, I tried your tip, that didn't work for this one, but I'll remember it next time. Thanks.

Frank, I'm at home now (finally) and I'll check it tomorrow. Doug also sent me something he worked on that looked like it'll work too. So between the help of the two of you, I'm sure I have something I can use.

Thanks!

I received the file from Scott, opened it in Illustrator and found an embedded bitmap file sitting on top of a drop shadow consisting of thousands of points. I rasterized the bitmap and shadow into a separate high res TIFF file. I then flattened the remaining parts and saved into a new EPS file. This allowed Scott to easily import the elements into Corel. I'm guessing the problem was the embedded bitmap file. Having worked with tons of supplied files over the years, I'm surprized it wasn't 72 ppi.

Cheers
