Hi everyone,

Just stumbled on this site yesterday so decided to
register. I am a newcomer to turning with less than
12 months experience.

Up to date I have made about 60 slimline pens from
various woods.

Here is my first attempt at a bowl made of Blackwood
and is 5-1/2" across and 2" high.

Regards

Allan.

Welcome to the Creek, Alan!

Really beautiful bowl. Nicely turned and I love the color of that wood.

You're from Victoria? Y'all sure have some great turners over there. Great woods, too!

Keep those pics coming!

Yes Neal, from Wallan Victoria which is about
25 miles North of our capital city (Melbourne).

Thanks for your comments.

Welcome to SMC Alan. Lots of good people and lots of knowledge. I love the wood you used for the bowl and the bowl is a beauty. Keep'em coming.

Welcome to the Creek (from a part timer). There's a lot of nice folks here (and a lot of characters too- not to say they're not nice too, of course).

I'm puzzled, and have a question....

How come "blackwood" is red, and not black?

Welcome to The Creek (SMC) Alan.
The woodturning vortex runs pretty deep here with friendly people, lots of help when needed, and overall fun just to hang out with.

Glad to have ya around the watering hole. ;)
