I need to replace six of the twelve set screws that hold the knives in place for my Delta 37-280 jointer. I did some hunting, and made my way to Mike Schneider's website. The replacement parts list for this jointer showed that this is part# 1342348. But, after doing some research for me, Mike told me that Delta discontinued that particular part, and he didn't have any in stock. Has anybody had any luck replacing these screws via a borg or local hardware store?

Thanks!!

The only thing I can suggest is to take the set screws with you and try to match them up. Do you have a vernier to measure the O.D. (outside diameter) ? As a machinist in my other life, I would measure OD and look on the chart to verify thread size. It probably is a metric screw. Big catologs ( think Mc Masters) will have them. May order online?

I'd probably get 'em from McMaster. Do you know what hardness is required?

Keith,
Just a shot...find and call your closest service center and see what they can do. They may have info that will help...

Otherwise here's how to id threads...

Thanks for the ideas, guys. I'm going to try and find it myself before having to hit one of the local supply houses.

I appreciate the help!

If you can get the specs you could order them. I'm fortunate to have a dealer in my town, but they do phone orders. http://www.boltsandnutsinc.com/
