Here is a cherry NE without the bark that I got from John Hart. As I was turning it before I even got it down the bark flew. So I used india ink on the edge. It is 8 1/2" across the widest and 2" deep at the shallowest. Finished with Deft lacquer and buffed.

She is a beauty Bernie, I like the lines and the black rim. The white sap is so special also...

Ya know Bernie....I really like the edge treatment you put on that one. :D

Very nice touch and it's perfect as it sits today. Beautiful.

If ya keep this up you'll have to retire sooner than you think. Excellent, it matches the platter / bowl from the other post. Nice work Bernie.

I love it.. Might I ask how you applied the ink?

Wipe, brush, other?

Anchor I put it on with a small artist brush. My hands with the small stuff aren't as steady as they once were so I take painters tape the blue stuff and put it all the way around outside and inside then painted the ink on. The LOML always tells me I can't color inside the lines. She does a lot of my painting on turnings.

Thanks all for your comments. This is the best bowl I have did thus far. I really like how it turned out and I sure am glad I decided on lacquer because it didn't change the color at all. I wanted the sap wood contrast with the ink.

Love the bowl. Cherry is one of the best looking woods to turn in my opinion.
