Bowls

Took a little time off this week and finished turning my ornaments. Had 3 smallish bowl blanks so put'em on the lathe and turned them. First one is a shallow cherry bowl 8 1/2" across and a little over 3/4" deep. The next is a small bowl for like your keys or change. It is 4 1/4" across and 2 1/4" deep. Both are finished with Minwax Antique Oil.

I like'em both Bernie, really nice shape on the small one.

How stable is the big one? I've got a small foot on a wide shallow bowl that I'm thinking about turning off because everytime you touch the rim it tips over.

That cherry bowl just "speaks" to me Bernie. Very nice piece!!!! :D

Both pieces are very nicely done, but that Cherry bowl is tawkin'..... :D

Chuck it is cherry. I got this from John Hart a few months back and just got around to turning it. He just had cherry and walnut at the time. I turned all the walnut and forgot about this little piece.

Thanks for the comments. These two really turned out nice. Wish they would have been bigger pieces but the dark one will make a nice change or key bowl.

Great couple of bowls Bernie. I really like the shape of the key/change dish - I'm a fan of that slightly sloped/downturned rim. But I also like the rim detail on the larger diameter piece.
