Recieved this wood from Christopher Hartley this summer. Thanks Chris!

The live oak piece is one of my favorites. Turned green, a coat of oil. It has a a wonderfull feel - leathery. The shape with collapsed grain seems in character with the tree. This wood was fun to turn. Hard, crossed grained..cut like burl. Id love to get some more of it.

The sweet gum is has a couple of coats of antique oil and is buffed.

Nice turnings. I love the undulation in the rim as the wood dries.

Those are both nice bowls. I really like the way the Oak bowl is twisting and contorting itself. It gives it 'character'.

Nice couple of bowls Tom. I like the gnarly, almost crushed look of the live oak.
