Atlas 6001 Jointer

Does anyone know anything about this machine? Someone local is selling one, but it turns out I don't know much about woodworking machinery from the 50's. Were these well made machines? Is it worth a look?

Brett, I don’t know anything about the 6001 but Atlas generally made very good machines.

I have one, but have not yet finished setting it up...new stand, resharpened knives, new motor, etc. I used it some as I got it, but the motor was not geared for the right speed, and the knives were not set right. Other than cutting tapers instead of flat, it seemed to run great.
It is a well made, fairly heavy machine, with an interesting fence. If you want more info, including manual, parts brakdown, visit OWWM.ORG.
